The Loch Haven Art Center was slowly redefining its intents in all modes of operation. Very gradually it withdrew from being an art center, and slowly over the years began assuming a status of museum. (It was renamed the Orlando Museum of Art in 1985) The reorganized Orlando Art Association became the Artists' League of Orange County and Charles served as its President for three years. He directed the organization toward enlargement and cohesiveness. He was often asked to be a judge for juried shows, and many times gave talks and demonstrations for the League's monthly meetings. He was ever encouraging the more novice member while heartily applauding the achievements of all. Entering his work in judged competition in the Professional category he won an array of ribbons, The Grumbacher Art Award and cash prizes as well. Mall shows, rotating member exhibits in public buildings locally and in other cities, and League promoted art fairs and festivals kept its members actively painting and arranging exhibits. The Dancers, Drama, Musical Fragments, Golden Mean, Navajo Vase, Ming Vase, Jungle Interplay, Artifact Contour, Mayflower, Bottles, Vertical Bottles, Abstract Nude, The Midnight Ride, Blue Rhinoceros and his cartooned response to his old acquaintance Walt, On the Way to Disney were exhibited by the beginning 1970's.

For a number of years he had been filling sketchbooks with ideas for continuous line abstractions which he titled PICTORIAL CONTINUITIES. In his notes he defined their mission in the following reference:
"The pictorial principle upon which the divisions, shapes, forms are created is a continuous line moving throughout the picture plane in such a way as to evolve interesting spaces. The direction the artist gives to the line is from his creativity. Color puts emphases on the shapes and forms created by the continuous line, vitalizing its animation. The line continuity can be purely non-objective or it can be based on an object such as a bird, vase, flower or tree. My work expresses this continuity. It is based on the principle of continuity, the principle of all life."

There were in these books at least a hundred ideas rendered in watercolor, pencil and marker, all preliminaries ready to paint. And, paint he did! Photographing and cataloging those he had finished and adding others. Abstraction with Moon, Triangular Meditation, Abstraction in Autumn, Continuous Line with Black and Red, Continuity #8, Yellow Circle on Green, Rectangular Continuity, Yellow Mask, Continuity #5, The Black Phantom, Abstraction #6, Abstraction #8, Continuity on Blue, Line Continuity, Autumn Storm, Music in the Air, White Line, Abstraction with Red Boarder, Non-objective on Blue with Boats, Non-objective on Yellow with Flower, and Forms on a Yellow Sky, are but a sampling of the ideas that were finished.

During this time he developed a new print technique which he called PAPER PRINTS. It was a mode of conveyance for his brilliantly colorful and bold abstract images, eleven in the series. They were titled by number, #1 - #11, done in editions of 25, 30, 36, and 50. The process was one of adding multiple layers to the inked surface rather than taking away, cutting out, as in relief blocks done for woodcuts, wood engravings and lino prints.

In preparation for the Bicentennial in 1976, he did his last woodcuts: Statue of Liberty, Peace, and Spirit of '76. A book dummy was assembled for the occasion, SEVEN SPIRITS OF U.S.A., depicting people and places of the American Revolution. GOD THE UNIVERSE AND MAN was the title of another book dummy. It was an in-depth compilation of conclusions reached by contemporary natural scientists and philosophers disclosing their metaphysical thoughts. He illustrated it throughout with creatively clever pen and ink drawings.

Long intrigued by the vivid imagery described in the Biblical book THE REVELATION OF ST. JOHN THE DIVINE, he spent twelve years inquisitively researching its symbolic meaning. Through his search he also learned that no one in Christian history had painted or portrayed this mysterious book of the Bible the way he wanted to do it. During the late '60's he made his first painting, but by the early 1970's he had completed a second one enlarging it to 4'x 6';and dramatically defining the symbols. Numerous invitations for him to give lectures on his painting, Revelation, Symbol of Symbols followed. Its acceptance caused him to have a commercial reproduction made which included a key and verse-line reference. In conjunction he wrote an artist's note disclosing the insightful unfolding of its composition. His second catalogue of seventy-eight signed, original prints was published in 1978. It included several paper prints from the series of eleven. His painting of Revelation was featured on the back cover.

Over the years in his lectures, he had repeatedly referred to the two-space parallel division of foreground and background in most picture planes, as "pictorial cliches". His solution to this "boring" approach was by extending the parallel lines to all four sides of the picture plane. His mutation of nonconformity from conventional pictorial design was exuberantly expressed in ten non-objectives, twenty-five florals, and fifteen nautical paintings. Medley of Rectangles, Abstraction/Red Frames, Medley of Free Forms, Plant Continuity, Poppies on Blue, Yellow and Orange Canas, Daisies in Glass Bowl, Flower Study, Sunflowers and Marigolds, Daylilies, The Harold Vanderbelt, Sailing in the Summer Breeze, Mercedes II, Yellow Boat with Green Sails, Sailing with the Moon, Sails of Many Colors, and Sailing in the Blue Wake but begin to touch the extent of his passion for this format. His final print, in an edition of 50 images was, Sailing on the Blue. It was an interesting combination of paper print and woodcut utilizing this style of departure from convention.
